Sickness Policy
We ask every person who will be on the land for more than 24 hours to fill out a confidential Medical Emergency and Consent to Treatment Form on arrival. Basic first aid supplies—masks, bandages, disinfectants, and salves—are available on request.
Please do not visit if you are feeling sick. If anyone on the land feels unwell we ask that they contact the watch and observe the following guidelines until symptoms dissipate:
- General consideration for the health and wellbeing of fellow community members
- Staying outdoors/wearing a mask indoors
- Not participating in cooking or cleaning
Be advised that mouse droppings may contain Hanta Virus and Tick-born Lyme Disease is present in this county.
Pet Policy
Please do not bring your pets to Lama Foundation. Authorized service animals are allowed for retreatants and visitors. All other pets will be required to wait for you in your vehicle.
Lama Foundation houses a resident cat for rodent control. If you have extreme allergies, please contact us before arrival for more information.
Personal Food Policy
Lama Foundation shares the mountain with bears, and other wildlife. In order to maintain a harmonious relationship with our animal friends (notably bears), we ask that you keep no food or items having a strong odor in your tent or in your car that will attract them. Items having a strong ordor can be soap, incense, shaving gear, camera film or toothpaste. It is safest to keep your tent doors zipped at night to discourage foraging skunks, raccoons, etc. There is no refrigerated space for personal foods, but limited larder space may be available upon request.
Drugs & Alcohol Policy
While the Lama Foundation is not an explicitly Sober Living community, we do not allow the presence or use of drugs or alcohol in or around our communal buildings, referred to as Lama Central. We strive to uphold an atmosphere of presence and connection through clarity and integrity in our bodies, minds, hearts, and souls.
If any individual is intoxicated in community settings, they will be asked to leave the space. If the problem persists, they will be asked to leave the mountain.
We occasionally engage substances ritually with the consent of the resident body, such as wine for our Shabbat ceremony, but we do not condone the use of intoxicants on the mountain.
Policy prohibiting drugs and alcohol has been a fundamental tenet of Lama’s existence and persistence as a safe and sacred community, and we ask that you respect this intention while you join us on the mountain. Please do not bring alcohol, recreational marijuana, or illegal substances with you on your visit.
Telephone Use and Contact with the Outside World
Your visit to the Lama Foundation will be greatly enhanced by taking care of your personal business before you come, thereby giving yourself an uninterrupted visit. We have a small building called the Dewdrop which has a couple of computers you can use to check email. Please limit your cell phone use to the area immediately around the Dewdrop or out of earshot of others.
