Visiting the Lama Foundation

We love to welcome visitors to the Lama Foundation! However, we are sometimes in retreat, whether summer or winter, so it is very important to check ahead before planning a visit. Give us a call at 575-586-1269.

Visitors can tour the land, share a meal or even stay a few nights. Day visits are by donation and overnight visits** have a per-night requested donation of $15 to $50, sliding scale.

We offer a public Shabbat service each Friday at 6pm, followed by dinner, throughout the year. There is Zikr (Sufi Ceremony of Divine Remembrance) each Thursday evening, and the Maqbaras (grave sites) of Murshid Samuel Lewis and Murshida Vera Corda are always open for day visits to their followers. Please contact us if there are any questions.

**In the summer months (mid-May to mid-September), overnight visitors need to bring a tent and sleeping equipment; other times, overnight visitors use indoor facilities, space available. Importantly, the mountain weather is colder than lower elevations, so please bring appropriate clothing and sleeping equipment.

Driving Directions to Lama Foundation:
Go north of Taos on NM highway 522. Look for the small green “Lama” township sign which is just before our turnoff. It is the only uphill turn between the 15 mile and the 16 mile markers. Turn east (towards the mountains) on Taos County road B-014, drive over the cattle guard and follow the signs to the Lama Foundation, about 4 miles of dirt road. The final 1¼ miles is especially rough , so please drive slowly.
