Spiritual Practice at Lama Foundation, p.2

The daily schedule starts with personal meditative practice in the prayer room, then a group spiritual practice before discussing the day’s community announcements and tasks. The weekly schedule has spaces for personal spiritual practice time as well as regular group practices. Community members are encouraged to take advantage of Lama’s vast library of spiritual subjects, participate with the various teachers that come in and out of the community throughout the summer, but most importantly, to walk down that inner-path in one’s heart.

Another aspect of spiritual practice is living in community. Western culture conditions us each to be self-reliant, self-sustaining and above all “unique individuals”. Community life challenges this socialization process with interdependence in the workplace, interpersonal community building, consensus-style decision making, and the need to surrender one’s personal agenda for the good of the larger group. This can cause one to seriously re-think their place in the world!
