About the Hermitages

Length of Stay. Length of stay may vary from two or three days up to two weeks, depending on the nature and purpose of the retreat. We have accommodated occasional longer retreats under special circumstances.

Facilities. Both hermitages are equipped with small propane burners and wood stoves, cooking implements and an assortment of staple foods (grains, nut butters, rice cakes, dried beans and legumes, cereals, seasonings, honey, teas.) sleeping mattresses, bedding, meditation cushions, lanterns, and other basic supplies.

There is no electricity or running water at either site. Private composting toilets are located in separate structures outside the hermitages but nearby.

Community members will "check in" with hermits on request by leaving notes at designated places and times, assuring that fresh water, fruits and vegetables are available during the retreat.
