Founded by Scott Pittman, the Permaculture Institute offers Permaculture Design Certification based on the original material developed by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren. Their mission is to promote sustainable living skills through education, networking and demonstration projects. There was concern on the part of Bill Mollison and Scott Pittman that over time permaculture maintain its integrity primarily as educator and promoter of sustainable design. There has been pressure over the years to change the curriculum and pedagogy of the Permaculture Design Course to attract more mainstream participants with a less rigorous offering; the Permaculture Institute has resisted such a dilution of purpose.

Participants that attend all sessions of this class and complete the final design project will receive a Certificate of Permaculture Design. For a detailed syllabus and more information on the course and the teaching team, please visit www.permaculture.org.

Lama Foundation's regular and special events, including daily meditation and vegetarian meals, are included. Participants are expected to bring their own tents and camp on the earth. The vistas and networks of the Carson National Forest are at your doorstep.
