In its 5th year at Lama, Singing In Circle, is a full immersion in the renewing nature of rhythm and song: songs of celebration, ceremony, and community; songs celebrating the earth, our own spirit and creativity; songs of healing and passage, of playfulness and joy.
Terry Garthwaite (www.terrygarthwaite.com) Internationally known performing artist Terry cooks with rhythm. With a voice both "sassy and touching," she has been "digging the music garden" since the '70's when she co-created the Joy of Cooking band. She has continued to write and teach music that encourages and inspires; that lifts the spirit and tunes the heart.
Kate Munger (www.thresholdchoir.org) Kate has devoted herself to creating non-hierarchical, collaborative models for singing, community building and fellowship for over 30 years. In 2000 she founded the first of 35 Threshold Choirs, which span the country and Europe for women who are called to sing at the bedsides of people who are dying, in coma, newborns and incarcerated women.
Becky Reardon (http://web.me.com/beckyreardon) Becky has taught singing-songwriting nation-wide and at the Gay and Lesbian Spirituality conference at Lama and leads an on-going Joy of Singing class in Taos, NM. Her fun-loving, jazz-influenced songs and rounds have carried circles of singers to places of ancient connection and healing through the years.
Melanie DeMore (http://melaniedemore.com) With phenomenal presence and voice, Melanie weaves the fibers of African American folk with soulful ballads, spirituals and original music. She has toured extensively, facilitates vocal workshops for professional groups and teaches a program called "Sound Awareness" in prisons.
