There are no indoor toilets! We use old fashioned outhouses.

There are a limited number of showers with running hot water. During retreats, our indoor shower space may have alternate days of men and women usage. There are also three outdoor showers (with privacy) available to anyone at any time. We supply towels, and biodegradable soaps, shampoos and hair conditioners. We request that guests do not use non-biodegradable soap, shampoo or hair conditioner because the grey water from the washroom sinks feeds trees on the land.

IMPORTANT! We share the mountain with bears and other wildlife in the summer. So, we ask that you pack your toiletries separately to be left in the washhouse during your stay. Also, we will ask you not to leave any “smelly” items (such as food, soap, incense, shaving gear, camera film or toothpaste) in your car or your sleeping area.

Our Lamassary store carries basic sundries only and there are no stores nearby. A flashlight is essential at night.

Finally, we have a free clothing room, called “the Gypsy” where anyone can get an extra sweater, pair of shorts and so forth. Please consider bringing your surplus clothing to the Gypsy because these items are greatly appreciated and during weather shifts help out many retreatants.
